The Retail Technology Show, retail’s golden ticket event, and the British Retail Consortium (BRC), the go-to trade association for all UK retailers, have announced a strategic partnership which will hero the role of innovation in driving the future of retail.
As the leading trade event that brings together Europe’s most forward-thinking retailers and leading tech innovators, the Retail Technology Show’s founding mission is to drive the industry forwards through innovation. Blazing a trail for digital transformation, the Retail Technology Show showcases the technologies needed for retailers to thrive and survive in the context of economic headwinds, intensified competition, new cohorts of cost-of-living consumers and evolving sustainability efforts.
With its purpose to make a positive difference to the retail industry and the customers it serves, the BRC has been a longstanding champion of the role of technology in helping retailers meet new challenges and opportunities. And, as the industry deals with new sets of challenges arising from inflation and the rising cost-of-living, its Digital Transformation Change Programme aims to bring together best practice, data and insights from its 200+ retail Members and its Associate Members and Partners, who are made up of leading technology solutions providers.
The BRC will lead a keynote session at the Retail Technology Show, taking place at London’s Olympia on 26-27 April 2023, as part of its conference programme that sees 100+ retail leaders, tech juggernauts and industry luminaries, including Farfetch, Alibaba, Deliveroo and Currys, discuss the hottest and most pressing topics shaping the retail agenda. Andrew Opie, Director of Food and Sustainability at the BRC, will be discussing the key sustainability questions retailers should be asking themselves in 2023 on Day 1 of the show as part of the keynote session, while Dr Kris Hamer, Director of Insight at the BRC, joins the closing keynote panel discussion, also on Day 1, which explores the key innovations impacting retail today and how this will evolve as we look ahead to 2028.
Helen Dickinson OBE, Chief Executive of the British Retail Consortium, said:
“We welcome our new partnership with the Retail Technology Show and look forward to supporting its fantastic event in April 2023. Retail is a fast-paced, innovative industry which relies on new technology and ideas to constantly improve the way it meets the needs of its customers. We hope this partnership will complement the BRC’s own digital transformation change programme, which aims to support the retail community in better meeting the digital needs of its customers and clients. This work is built on four key pillars: technology and infrastructure; talent and skills; leadership and culture; and customer experience.”
Matt Bradley, Event Director for the Retail Technology Show, commented: “The BRC is not only one of the foremost champions of retail, but it is the voice of the sector, campaigning for key initiatives, programmes and causes that bring the industry together and ready it for future success. Its passion for supporting retail is mirrored by our founding mission to be an event platform that serves the needs of the industry, helping to bring together retailers and innovators to accelerate the digital transformation needed for success. We’re thrilled to formally partner with the BRC in 2023, and look forward to delivering combined value to both the BRC’s membership and the 8,400+ retailers who visit the Retail Technology Show.”
